What do I do as a volunteer?

Serving as a volunteer with the Literacy Council of Grand Island means providing English instruction to our students as a one-on-one tutor or class instructor.

What if I don't know how to teach?

No teaching experience necessary! We provide the training, teaching materials, and support you need to be a successful instructor.

What's the time commitment?

The LCofGI asks that all volunteer tutors and instructors commit to meeting with a student or teaching a class consistently for a minimum of one hour every week. Providing English instruction can be as short as a few weeks to as long as several years. We work with your availability!
